This new site was made possible by the talent, hard work, and generosity of our community and friends. I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks to a few key people who were instrumental in making this happen.
Thanks to Starving Geeks – Sage Felker and Eric van der Paardt – for their technical know-how, their willingness to answer my endless questions, make changes, provide ideas, brainstorm, and to teach me how to work with this beautiful site they created. I have learned much since we embarked on this project and am sure I will learn more as we make this a core part of our Red Bird community. I am so grateful for all of the late nights, the countless hours, the striking new website.
Thanks to Anna Dielschneider for her amazing vision. In late 2014 Red Bird made an open call to our community for design of a new standard (banner) and logo. We selected her design because we felt she so beautifully captured what we are about – the art and the words and their intersection. The new logo and standard were unveiled during the AWP Conference in April 2015 and have received much praise. I’m sure you can see why. I know I did… This new imagery really deserves to be shared and it was one of the main reasons reasons I decided to embark on the website redesign. All of us here at Red Bird really appreciate all that Anna did to capture who we are and to make us stand out so brilliantly.
In the coming weeks I will continue to update the website, adding the many pages for the authors and artists and editors who have joined our community over the years and the new ones who join us in the future. I will be adding new chapbooks as they are released – we still have several titles scheduled for publication in 2015. And going forward I will be adding announcements, links to reviews, information about readings and events that we receive from our community. Be sure to check out our Ponderings blog for these updates and our Meet the Flock blog for more information on our editors.
