Role at Red Bird: Publishing Intern
How I became involved with Red Bird and why I agreed to do it:
I found Red Bird through my previous internship, Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts. I adore their support and effort to make authors' experiences with publishing as pain-free as possible. They are a wonderful resource to the community and continue to provide authors with the resources they need for their voices to be heard.
Recent Red Bird project(s):
I have just started here in 2017, but I will be assisting in many projects for Red Bird. This will include making the books, grants, and marketing.
A little about my own work and what I am currently working on:
I write open-form poetry, but I hope to start developing skills to produce formal poetry. I also write non-fiction pieces; however, recently I have been interested in writing creative nonfiction and nonfiction. I am fascinated with the world around me and love hearing other perspectives that differ from my own. I am working towards applying to schools in England for Spring 2018, where I plan to finish my English and Business Degree.
My favorite thing(s) that can be found in the public domain:
I love classical books like The Odyssey or Chaucer’s works. These can easily be found online or even on eBooks.
